HEROIC Documentary Moves London Audience with the Power of Art and Beauty

Originally distributed on July 3, 2026, this release documented the London preview of HEROIC: Sabin Howard Sculpts the National WWI Memorial, filmmaker Traci L. Slatton’s documentary following master sculptor Sabin Howard’s nine-year creation of A Soldier’s Journey.
Presented at ARC Conference 2026 at Olympia London on June 24, the special preview brought the film before an international audience of leaders from politics, business, technology, academia, law, culture and the arts. The screening was followed by a live conversation with Slatton hosted by sculptor and assistant director Charles Mostow.
HEROIC documents the creation of A Soldier’s Journey, the 58.5-foot bronze relief at the National World War I Memorial in Washington, D.C. Filmed over nine years and more than 4,000 hours across three continents, the documentary follows the artistic, technical and institutional effort behind the monument.
The London presentation placed the film within a broader international conversation about art, beauty, remembrance and cultural inheritance, connecting the creation of a permanent American memorial with questions of what societies choose to preserve and pass forward.
